Book Launch @ WAM: "Bill Ainslie, South African Artist and Cultural Catalyst¡± by Sophia Ainslie

You are invited to the launch of Sophia Ainslie’s book Bill Ainslie, South African Artist and Cultural Catalyst at WAM on Tuesday 2 December 2025, at 18:00 for 18:30. The book contains contributions from a wide range of artists, affiliates, writers, poets and supporters, whose memories and experiences pay tribute to Bill Ainslie’s life and legacy. Artist and Johannesburg Art Foundation affiliate William Kentridge will join Sophia Ainslie to discuss the book’s contribution to South African art history by examining Bill Ainslie’s painting practice, teaching philosophy, and his enduring legacy as founder of the Johannesburg Art Foundation. New exhibition at WAM: Intersections: Bill Ainslie and the Johannesburg Art Foundation

You are invited to join WAM at the opening of Intersections: Bill Ainslie and the Johannesburg Art Foundation on Tuesday 25 November 2025 @ 18:00 for 18:30. The exhibition, curated by Wilhelm van Rensburg, Senior Art Specialist and Head Curator at Strauss & Co, and Kagiso Pat Mautloa, artist and Johannesburg Art Foundation affiliate, celebrates the legacy of this influential artist and the equally influential foundation that he established. Parking for the opening event is available in the garage beneath the museum.
