With an eye for opportunity, Céire spotted (and simultaneously addressed) a gap in the market for customised girls’ clothing. Back in 2017, she founded Maison Céire and, alongside her Instagram page, leveraged the power of social media to showcase her particular style to the world.
Clinton Nyathi
With an interest in a green and sustainable future for us all, Clinton formed his business Xitluka. Aimed at combatting food waste in a country which already struggles with hunger- and poverty-related problems, Clinton hopes Xitluka will serve as an example for others operating in the green sector.
Faith Mokgalaka
Hailing from the province of Limpopo, 22-year-old Faith Mokgalaka founded Puno Greenery in 2021. Born from personal experience, the Puno platform aims to connect SA-based startup farmers with investors by enabling farmers to sell shares or a portion of their next harvest to raise capital for their businesses.
Ken
Previously a Malawi native, Ken is a young man who, having abandoned his studies, made a start for himself here in South Africa back in early 2020 – a difficult time. Keeping his ear to the ground for opportunity, Ken soon realised that foreigners in the country were hungry for plantains and, though he didn’t have somewhere fixed to sell them from, he opted for the car-boot approach.
Duduzile
With her organisation, E.Assistant RSA—aimed at assisting researchers, scholars, authors, and individuals at all levels—Duduzile set out to provide a service to assist others with both professional and academic writing, embodying their ‘writing made simple’ tagline.
Leago
Admired for his fashion sensibility & versatility, Leago founded OnlyThrift while he was still at varsity. As a witness to the declining standard of living in SA, of inflation, and of life’s challenges in general, Leago’s always held firm in his belief: “I won’t allow myself to look like my problems” – and, through OnlyThrift—a curated clothing marketplace for eco- and cost-conscious young people.
Maggie
Founding Milani Hair Care back in 2020, Maggie has been determined to provide high-quality, affordable hair care to black women. There’s been a global sea change in the social attitudes towards black hair through the natural hair movement.
Maputa
A Zimbabwean immigrant since settled in South Africa, Maputa Johane’s claim to fame is his craftsmanship and, most importantly, his ability to take the initiative. When queried about his bench-making abilities—next to nothing at the time—he seized the moment, offered his services and delivered a bench that got the ball rolling on his crafty future.
Mfundo
A true believer in entrepreneurship, Mfundo founded Hydro Kicks back in 2019 with the aim of revolutionising the footwear-cleaning sector in SA. His goal? To provide both affordable and environmentally friendly shoe care.
Mr Victorino
Johannesburg-born Mr Victorino is the founder of DOUBLUP – a web and digital solutions business focussed on creating efficient and accessible online platforms for South Africans. Noticing a shift in business—due to the onset of 必博娱乐,比博娱乐网址—and a move into the digital development space, he decided to forge a new path in this underdeveloped sector.
Sano
Originally from Lesotho, Sano migrated to Johannesburg around 6 years ago. Having stopped his studies at grade 7 when his mother became ill, this young man was put in a position where begging on the streets was the solitary source of income for both of them. After hearing about the scrapyards operating in Johannesburg, Sano went out and made one for himself as an informal recycler.
The Hand
Hailing from Zimbabwe, The Hand—a nickname—sells products designed for hairlines and hair growth. Finding himself jobless as 必博娱乐,比博娱乐网址 clutched the country, The Hand took it upon himself to start his own business and, with his wife and himself putting their products through their paces in terms of testing, it wasn’t long before the pair started seeing the results they wanted.
Tumelo
Chief executive and co-founder of Clay Holdings, Tumelo— alongside Kampamba Chanda—created their company back in 2017. Their mission statement: “providing the best solution, at the most competitive price” speaks to the services which they offer – wide-ranging, flexible, and operating at multiple levels. It’s because of this that Clay has a diverse client base which spans many sectors.
