Postgraduate Diploma (Digital Education and Online Teaching)

The Postgraduate Diploma in Education in the Field of Digital Education and Online Teaching responds to the need to develop teaching competence in the digital education space. The programme opens opportunities for career development, for professional renewal and for personal development.

Overview


The purpose of this programme is to provide educators, lecturers, trainers, and anyone involved with online learning or using Information Communication Technologies in their teaching and learning environments with the necessary knowledge, skills, and competencies in digital education, teaching and online learning.

Curriculum


The Postgraduate Diploma in Education in the Field of Digital Education and Online Teaching is a formal 120-credit qualification at NQF Level: 8

The curriculum consists of four components offered within this programme

  1. Teaching with Technology,
  2. Instructional Design,
  3. New Direction in Digital Learning, and
  4. E-Assessment in Education.

Entry Requirements


Admission is at the discretion of the Senate. The following are eligible for admission:

  • An applicant who holds an appropriate NQF 7 qualification from an accredited Institution of Higher Education OR
  • Through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). RPL means the taking into account of the previous learning and experience of the applicant by the Senate either for purposes of admission and/or for the granting of exemption or full or partial credit towards one or more courses. You can apply for RPL if you have developed knowledge and skills through work experience.

University Application Process


  • Applications are handled centrally by the Student Enrolment Centre (SEnC). Once your application is complete in terms of requested documentation, your application will be referred to the relevant School for assessment. Click here to see an overview of the Wits applications process.   • Please apply online. Upload your supporting documents at the time of application, or via the Self Service Portal.
  • Applicants can monitor the progress of their applications via the Self Service Portal.
  • Selections for programmes that have a limited intake but attract a large number of applications may only finalise the application at the end of the application cycle.
